I WISH that were true. That description mostly suits me (apart from the overweight part). I have a B.A. and a TESL certificate that took two years of full-time study to obtain, and I speak some Chinese. But, because I’m only 21 and don’t have two years of post-graduate work experience under my belt, getting a work visa for China is practically impossible — or so I’ve been informed.

Hey Benjamin! In my opinion it depends on where you are looking for a job. Some places are more desperate than others. Big cities like Beijing and Shanghai require a much higher degree. Good luck!

I have plenty of friends teaching in Shanghai and NONE of them have a degree. They are just native speakers…
