I love your cartoons, but my written chinese is sufficiently basic that I only recognise about 1:3 characters. What are the odds that you can – from now on – create a third frame, containing pinyin? It would help others in my position get more value out of your cartoons – and may increase your number of subscribers materially if they also feel they can get more value. Just a thought …
Greg… that’s a great suggestion. THANKS! I admit that some are easier than others and some are harder than others…
The thought is that a little bit everyday or every other day is a good way to continue learning Chinese! I know it’s hard! It’s hard for me too! If you want an easier one… here is a recent one. http://www.mandmx.com/2009/04/10/learn-chinese-and-english-describing-hair/
Thanks – that is an easier one. But to give you an example … the first one in English says “His hair is short”. And in Chinese, I can read “ta de tou fa hen xxx”. But I don’t know the word for “short” – which is where a 3rd pinyin frame would be helpful.
Again, that’s just from my points of view. If you can find the time to add pinyin (even tone-free) that would be great too!
Greg, again good suggestions… I know this might frustrate a lot of readers!
My idea though later on is to collect the comics in a book and the book would have the pinyin and tones to make it easier for learners! What do you think?
I’m one for learning in bite-sized chunks … so I’m more likely to make the effort to read a new cartoon every few days, than to pick up a book packed with cartoons. But that’s just me. I’m sure there are plenty who would prefer the chunky book option. Thanks again for a great series!
