[...] October Holiday 2005 Chongqing part 3 October 5th, 2005 Chongqing part 3 ….ahhhhh yes, the FOOD!!! Chongqing is famous for its amazing food. SPICY AND more spicy. The food was amazing. DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY CARTOON THIS WEEK… IT WILL SHOW YOU AN INTERESTING ANGLE OF EATING THE CHONGQING HOTPOT. Anyway, the famous food is hotpot which is really hot but there were other things that we had that were really really hot and good. One of them is called MA LA Tang….but it doesn’t have an English word…so I just call it Malatang. We have it at school here in Shanghai but it is no where near as hot as it was in Chongqing. One night my friend and I went to a place that was really good. Here is the menu. You just pick and choose what you want. Next to this wonderful display was a fridge where all the meet was kept…. There were three of us who ate the Malatang and we got a lot of veggies and a lot of meet. You stick all of it in your boiling spicy soup, little by little and just chow down. It is so good! You pick the sticks out of the spicy soup and eat it and discard the sticks in a pile or special stick recepticle. When you are finished, the lady comes over and counts the sticks, and charges you. Each stick is the same cheap price and we consumed 138 between the both of us!!!! WOW!!! Here is a nice view of some, but not all 138, sticks! I loved eating the hotpot so much and there were so many places to choose from. Everywhere you go you can find a hotpot place. After a climb up to the peak to see the city in the evening (it was a long taxi ride to the top) we went to a nice restaurant, sat outside and had some mad good hotpot again with the beautiful view of the river and scenery!!! NICE! You might say, HEY, WHAT IS THIS HOTPOT AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU EAT IT AND WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE AND ALL THAT JAZZ… Good question. I have now provided you with a special glimpse before and after. The first photo is before, with all the food untouched, uncooked and and undigested. The second photo is evidence of some food but shows the utter devastation that took place. Chongqing part IV will show my friend and I. Keep reading. [...] For those of you who are CHINESE out there… this was the schedule and stations and cities that the train stopped at. For those of you who arent’ CHINESE…The bottom is the starting point and Shanghai is at the top. Somewhere in there is Mao Zedong’s hometown and some other interesting towns. But this shows you the actual length of time… CRAZY LONG! I had tons of stuff to do on the train: grading journals, sleeping, reading, looking out the window, sleeping, drawing, sleeping and more looking out the window. So I was busy… That concludes the Chongqing trip. I highly recommend a trip to see the city for yourself. I had a great tour guide!!!
