Mid Autumn Festival and my apartment
September 16th, 2005
It is hot here in Shanghai. The other day on my way to class I started sweating and by 8am as I started class I was dripping. Crazy. Classes are going well and teaching is great. Today, I taught from an article and it was about HOME SECURITY. I had my students design a security system for all my money. They were pretty creative. They talked about having 2 watch dogs, one male and one female, because there might be a smart robber who uses a dog to attract the other one if you only have one dog. That is pretty smart!!! There was another one who said their door will have 11 peepholes so that if the burglar comes he can’t cover all the peepholes with his fingers!!! FUNNY!
Today we had a lunch banquet with our school in honor of the beginning of the school year and the Mid Autumn Festival. We got MOON CAKES and stuff like that. I got to sit with the Chairman of the Board. That was fun, he had gone to Yale University many many years ago and his English was pretty good. He spoke really slow Chinese to me and I was able to understand and answer back to him. That was fun. At the Banquet we ate Lotus, Pumpkin, Dumplings, Spicy Squid and tons of other stuff. It was really good.
For those of you who have been wondering about my apartment… I thought you would like to see the apartment in all of its glory. FOR THE KIDS: How many of me can you see in the picture?!

This is just to show you the route we took in our plane as I went from Chicago to Shanghai. These were from the TV screen. Kind of cool.
